Are delay sprays safe to use while trying to conceive?
Painful ejaculation is not something to tolerate, and it usually has a findable and treatable cause. Common causes include prostatitis or chronic pelvic pain syndrome, infection of the urethra or epididymis, pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, and less commonly obstruction of the ejaculatory ducts or seminal vesicle problems. Some medications contribute. Because sexually transmitted infection is among the causes, testing is appropriate even where it feels unlikely โ chlamydia in particular is frequently asymptomatic otherwise, and it matters for both partners. For fertility, the relevance is twofold: infection and inflammation can affect semen quality directly, and pain understandably reduces frequency of intercourse. Assessment usually involves examination, urine testing, STI screening, and sometimes semen culture or ultrasound. Please see a urologist or a sexual health clinic. If there is fever, severe pain, testicular swelling, or difficulty passing urine, seek care the same day rather than waiting for an appointment.
